A Participatory Framework for Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment of Housing Estate Regeneration Schemes

PhD thesis: a participatory framework for assessing the environmental, social and economic sustainability of housing estate regeneration schemes, developed and tested through a mixed-methods research design.

Abstract

A participatory framework for assessing the environmental, social and economic sustainability of housing estate regeneration schemes, developed and tested through a mixed-methods, convergent research design. The thesis treats sustainability evaluation as a socio-technical, relational practice: frameworks are understood as knowledge tools that mediate participation, surface values and distribute power, structuring dialogue between residents, delivery partners, public authorities and technical specialists around indicator choices, trade-offs and assumptions in Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA).
